How we verify everything on this site.
Resellbazaar is a small independent team that writes buying guides for used phones, laptops, and desktops in India. We don't run a store. We don't take sponsorships. We don't rank sellers who pay us. This page explains exactly what we do, how we test, what we get wrong, and how we correct it โ so you can decide whether to trust what we publish.
The short version. Every guide on this site is written by someone who has personally bought, sold, or extensively used the category of device being discussed. Prices we quote come from a monthly manual check across Cashify, OLX, and 2GUD. Facts we state (like IMEI blacklist procedure) are checked against the source (in that case, the Indian government's CEIR portal). When we mention a specific seller or platform, we've either transacted with them ourselves or spoken to at least two readers who have.
Real people, real receipts.
Resellbazaar started in 2022 as a personal notebook โ one of our founders kept losing money on used phone purchases and started writing down the mistakes so he'd stop repeating them. That notebook grew into a Google Doc, then a WhatsApp channel of friends asking questions, then this site.
Today it's a team of three: two writers based in Delhi and Bangalore who between them have transacted (bought or sold) over 200 used devices in the last five years, and one editor who's a former quality-control auditor for a refurbishment company. None of us have any commercial relationship with any of the platforms or brands we cover.
You can read more about us and how to reach us on our about page. Every guide includes an "author" byline once it's published (rolling out this feature in early 2026).
How a guide gets made.
Every article on this site goes through the same four stages before it's published. This is not marketing copy โ this is genuinely what we do.
Draft from experience
Someone on the team who has actually bought or sold devices in the category writes the first draft from memory + notes. If the category is one where we don't have direct experience, we don't publish it โ we go buy the thing first. This has delayed articles by weeks. It's worth it.
Fact-check
Editor verifies every specific claim: IMEI procedures against CEIR docs, warranty timelines against Cashify's and Yaantra's stated policies, price ranges against a fresh price check that day. Any claim we can't verify gets pulled or hedged.
Real-user review
We send the draft to 2-3 readers who've asked us questions in that category (yes, we keep in touch โ email us and you might get one). Their pushback ("this checklist assumes I know what IMEI is, I don't") shapes the final draft.
Quarterly refresh
Every guide gets a re-read every 3 months. Prices change, platform policies change, new scams appear. We update in place rather than publishing "2025 vs 2026" versions โ the URL and the content evolve together.
The specifics, per category.
Phones. For every phone we recommend or use in a guide, we've held one, run the standard tests (IMEI verification, battery health check, display test, camera test, charging test), and used it for at least a week as a primary device. Where we cite a price band, we've cross-checked Cashify's quote, three OLX listings in Delhi and Bangalore, and one local shop quote in the same week we publish.
Laptops. Same principle. For every laptop we discuss in depth, someone on the team has run powercfg /batteryreport (Windows) or a coconutBattery check (Mac), stress-tested with Cinebench, checked hinge tension, examined keyboard for missing keys, verified all ports with our own USB-A and USB-C sticks. We publish only what we've handled or what we can source from a trusted friend who's handled it and answered our questionnaire.
Desktops. Harder to test because desktops don't move easily. Our desktop coverage focuses on components and buying process rather than specific models โ we've built and inspected enough builds to write confidently about PSUs, motherboards, and thermal setups, but we defer to PCPartPicker and Hardware Unboxed for benchmark-level data.
How we make money โ and what we don't do.
โ What we do
- Non-affiliate mentions of platforms (Cashify, OLX, Yaantra, 2GUD) when they're genuinely useful
- Amazon Associates links on some product mentions (with the standard disclosure)
- Display ads via a third-party ad network (Google AdSense-style, not native/sponsored)
- Sell our own valuation calculator's licensed version to refurbishers (this is the main revenue)
โ What we don't do
- Sponsored articles disguised as reviews
- Paid rankings ("top 5 refurbishers" ordered by who paid us)
- Native ads (paid content styled to look editorial)
- Undisclosed affiliate relationships
- Sponsored placements in "compared" or "vs" articles
- Push notifications for anything
Read our affiliate disclosure for the full breakdown. Short version: less than 6% of our published articles contain any affiliate link, and where they do, the link never influences the ranking or recommendation. If we tell you a device is bad and there's an affiliate link on it, it's because the affiliate link happens to exist for that product โ not because we're steering you toward or away from it.
Our correction policy.
We get things wrong. Prices move, platforms change policies, we mistype an IMEI procedure, we recommend a phone that turns out to have a manufacturing defect we didn't know about at publish time. Here's what happens when that occurs:
- You tell us. Email experia.mktg@gmail.com or use the contact form. Include the URL and what's wrong.
- We verify. Usually within 48 hours, sometimes faster.
- We correct in place and add a dated correction note at the top of the article. We don't quietly edit โ visible corrections build trust more than hidden ones.
- For major errors (wrong safety advice, wrong price range that could lose someone money), we also post the correction to our social channels.
We won't take an article down to hide an error. Corrections stay visible. That's how you know we take it seriously.
The rules that don't bend.
- Never recommend something we haven't handled or verified through a trusted second-hand source. If we haven't touched it, we don't tell you to buy it.
- Never quote a price we haven't checked in the last 90 days.Old prices actively harm buyers. If we can't get a fresh price, we remove the number and describe the price range in words instead.
- Never publish a "top N" list ranked by anything other than genuine merit. If someone paid us for placement, that placement gets removed. Simple.
- Never write in the voice of a customer we aren't.You'll notice our guides use "I" and "we" โ first person, real experience. We're not going to invent stories about "our reader Rohit from Mumbai" who conveniently had the exact experience the article needs.
- Never let a sponsor edit or approve content about their category. The rare sponsors we do work with (email newsletters, one podcast so far) get zero visibility into editorial.
- Always cite sources for factual claims.Government portals for regulation, manufacturer pages for warranty terms, platform terms of service for platform policies.
Tell us when we mess up.
The best signal we have that we're doing this right is when readers push back on something we wrote. If a guide didn't help you, if a recommendation went badly, if you spotted a factual error, if we sounded biased on something โ let us know. Every reader email gets read (by an actual person, not an autoresponder). Every valid correction shows up on the site within a week.
The site exists because someone once needed it and it didn't exist. We're trying not to become the thing we wanted to avoid.
